Scheibel Lake

In the Rottenmanner Tauern at the foot of the Bösenstein the large Scheibel lake is located. Surrounded by a magnificent forest of old, weatherproof Swiss stone pines, the lake extends only fifteen minutes above the Edelrautehütte of the Alpenvereine, or the car park just in front of it.  The starting point for the ascent to Scheibel Lake is Hohentauern (between Trieben and St. Johann am Tauern), from where a asphalted toll road leads to the lake.
